Jonathan in deep thought against
some of his opponents (Paul Curry, Hemant Nowbath nearest camera)

Above are some pictures I took at the champions simultaneous held on 7th June 2012. Jonathan won the 2012 club championships jointly with Nashlen Govindasamy and since Nashlen had previously given a simul against the club, Jonathan was given the honours. He scored 8 wins and 1 loss (to Jerry Zuma).

Jonathan and his brother Simon both used to play for KZN schools, but then stopped tournament chess for several years. He made a comeback to tournament chess in 2011, winning section C of the club championships with a full house 9/9. Promoted to section A in 2012, Jonathan was again successful, but has so far not returned to defend the title. Outside of chess, Jonathan is a teacher at Glenwood High School and has organised the annual Glenwood chess open on a number of occasions.
