Our youngest club member, Kriti Lalla, had a most successful December (2010) at the South African junior chess championships, held in Johannesburg. Kriti started off by scoring 7/7 on board 2 for the KZN under 10 team in the teams event. She then followed that up with 8/9 in the under 10 girls championships.

In April 2011 she took part in the SA Junior Closed held in Johannesburg, finishing 1st with 8 points out of 9 (8 wins, 1 loss) to confirm her status as the top under 10 girl. This win secured Kriti's place in the South African team for the World Youth championships, to be held in Caldas Novas (Brazil) in November 2011.
